Dr Herring was born in the Philippines and raised on the North Shore of Oahu. She provides a non-judgmental, safe and supportive place where she works with clients in a collaborative effort on their journey to live their best possible life.
Dr. Herring is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Hawaii and the State of Virginia. She also holds a National Certified Counselor with the Board of National Certified Counselors. Dr. Herring earned her Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology (Ed.D) from Argosy University, Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology with a focus in mental health counseling from Chaminade University of Honolulu and her undergraduate in Sociology at DePaul University.
She has extensive experience working with individuals with the mentally ill population (SMI) and their families for the last 20 years; working with such disorders as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and major depression. She also has extensive experience working with individuals and families with Autism Spectrum Disorders, Anxiety, Depression and Substance Abuse. She is a retired Military Army Officer and understands the complexity of PTSD. She believes therapy should be an individualized process.
Her role is to walk along with you in this journey to guide and navigate through life stressors, reprocess distressing experiences, and increase self-awareness.
She provide a counseling experience that allows a person to heal and grow in ways that allows to recognize their own strengths, and how those strengths can assist you in working toward a more positive and rewarding future. I work well with those who desire change, clarity, increased insight, or deeper connection to themselves and others.
She has years of experience working with a wide range of concerns, mental health diagnoses, and reasons for seeking therapy. Additionally, my clients are diverse in terms of race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, immigration status, social economic status and age.
